Club Statements

It is with much regret and sadness that we have learnt of the death of a good friend, Mike Cater, who passed away on Wednesday 30th October 2024.

Having entered the Timber Trade in the early 1960’s with J. Eidelman, and subsequently with Bambergers, Mike eventually set up his own agency, MCI Plywood, where he became a well known personality in the trade. 

He became a great supporter of the Plywood Club of London, serving two terms as Chairman (1988-90 & 1993-95). He eventually took on the role of President for several years. 

As a person who was keen to give something back to the trade, Mike was on the committee of the National Panel Products Division of the Timber Trade Federation for many years, including a three year stint as Chairman. 

In later years he gave invaluable support to the Timber Trades Benevolent Society (London & Home Counties/East Anglia Region) as a beneficiary visitor & organiser of the annual Golf Day.

His passing will leave a huge void within our industry.
